Electrical Engineer

Description:
In this role the engineer will work very closely with the technical team. Individual will be mentored by the one of the founders.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Know MOSFETs including n- and p-channel characteristics, logic and power, gate characteristics, drivers, use in H-bridges.
- Understand motors: AC, DC, BLDC, steppers, encoders, drivers, torque, back emf, etc.
- Design high current (400 A) circuits incorporating IGBTs to control the time duration of flashlamp pulses. The circuits will usually incorporate snubbing networks.
- Know how to use optoisolators.
- Be familiar with sensors: accelerometers, gyros, displacement, pressure, etc.
- Be familiar with SPICE.
- Know the C programming language.
- Be familiar with Programmable Logic Devices from Altera or Xilinx. Have experience in coding using Verilog.
- Be familiar with System Compliance Testing.
- Design logic circuits to communicate with various devices. Example: Use three Hall effect devices to determine the position of a mechanism. Use their states to encode a SMBus device.
- Be familiar with 74 series logic.
- Be familiar with opamps and their use as ordinary amplifiers, trans-impedance amplifiers, oscillators, peak detectors, integrators, constant current sources, etc.
- Design with voltage regulators, both linear and small switching regulators – using, for example, Linear Technology ICs. Be familiar with synchronous rectification.
- Understanding of I2C/SMBus devices and implementation.
- Be familiar with microcontrollers. How to use their onboard ADCs, DACs, timers, UARTs, etc. Write code for them.
- Understand temperature measurement using thermocouples, thermistors, etc. Design temperature control systems.
- Understand transformers; both air and iron core.
